Enchanted Designs: A Vendor Showcase

Wedding and event’s coordinators are a very unique group of people who take part on your big day. They are the sister you never had, your organizer who keeps things moving and the person you are essentially putting all your trust into to make sure that your big day goes smoothly. All the while allowing you have the ability to enjoy your evening with your family and friends.

Coordinators are the bridge between you and all your other vendors on sight, and I can say as a caterer, they are a valuable asset to have around. For our next Vendor Showcase, we are speaking with Mallorie Davenport from Enchanted Designs.

Getting to know Enchanted Designs

So, who is Enchanted Designs?

My name is Mallorie Davenport and I am the Owner + Principle Coordinator at Enchanted Designs Weddings + Events.  We provide services ranging from full-service planning to month of coordination and micro-wedding planning.  We also help with other event coordination, such as baby showers and rehearsal dinners.

What was the inspiration to become a wedding event coordinator?

Starting my own business had been a goal of mine for over 10 years, but I knew I wanted to learn the industry inside and out before opening.  I started as a banquet server and moved all the way up to Catering and Wedding Director at The Boulder Country Club.  I knew I was finally ready to take the leap and I opened my business in January 2019.  My happiness truly comes from helping my clients with their dream day and seeing all the hard work come together is an amazing feeling.

Trends and advice?

As an Wedding Coordinator, what are some of the trends you are seeing in the wedding industry?

I absolutely love seeing my couple’s creativity!  Anywhere from bright bold colors to a more muted fall vibe, I enjoy it all.  And while this has been a tough season for everyone, seeing some of my couple’s pivot into more intimate weddings has been special.  For me, it honestly comes down to what gets my couples excited for their day!

From an Wedding Coordinator’s point of view, what is some advice for people starting to book their vendors for whatever their event may be?

Hiring a planner nowadays is much more of a necessity than what was once considered a luxury.  I cannot tell you how many couples I have talked to that had a friend or family member get married and regretted not having a coordinator at their wedding.  There is SO much behind the scenes that happens during the day (and even leading up to it) that you do not want to have to deal with.  You should not be working on your wedding day.

Also, I always tell my couples to relax and really enjoy the day.  Everything goes by so much faster than you think, and you want to do your best to take it in and just have fun!

What do you love the most about being an Wedding Coordinator?

A lot of work can go into planning a wedding, for my couples, myself, and all the other vendors.  Watching it all come together during set-up is amazing.  And then seeing my couples faces when they see their whole vision come to life is pure magic to me!

When you have people that choose you to be apart of one of the most important days of their life is a feeling I cannot describe.

Last but not least...

If the Enchanted Designs never happened what, what else would you have done/or be right now?

Oh gosh, I wanted to be a Vet when I was younger because I love animals.  Or I would probably be in Florida working at Disney World.  I worked there in college and absolutely loved my experience there.  Seriously, I would take any job!

What makes you excited to go to work every day?

It sounds lame, but I love planning!  I am a huge list person and when I have multiple events to work on, I have a big to-do list and crossing off my items is a great feeling.  And being able to act as a sounding board for my clients and put their ideas into a real vision is amazing.

If money were no object, where would you go?

I would truly travel the world!  There are so many places my husband and I want to go.  Our next big trip in a few years will be to go on a South African Safari!

What has been you favorite project so far?

That is really hard to say.  I have loved working on a lot of styled shoots this year, meeting and collaborating with other vendors to bring our own vision to life has been a lot of fun.  I am really looking forward to next year and helping all my couples with their days!
